Editing my way through life
The tall one with the funky shirts.
I live in a friendly little village outside Chester-Le-Street where everybody knows your name... Cheers, see what I did there.
I got into photography 18 years ago after winning a camera on local radio, this turned into a love affair for me, an obsession. I focused for many years on the automotive and events market, photographing thousands and working my way through the ranks with hundreds of published magazine pieces across Europe.
In 2015 I decided I needed a change and new direction in life, so I moved to Newcastle to become a student, I consider this my midlife crises. I became a student and began two degrees in Commercial Photography and B.A. (Hons) in Creative Enterprise (this was tailored around the wedding industry) after 3 years I completed both with a 2:1 grade.
4 months into my degree I found a love for portraiture and this gave me the opportunity to move into wedding photography after putting it off for over 5 years. Weddings are full of emotions, nerves and excitement, the pressure to capture the best day of a person's life is a responsibility like no other. I won’t lie, I wish I'd done it sooner, I was convinced I wouldn’t really enjoy it, but what I found was it was one of the best decisions I've ever made, It’s a licence to be creative, not to mention the nonstop laughter and fun.
I mean why wouldn’t you want to spend the day with hundreds of people all happy (some tipsy, okay many tipsy) who solely want to make two people who are very much in love as happy as possible, everyone is there for a good time and to help be part of creating amazing images, not only that but I get to do it with different people, in different locations and with a different creative flare each time, then when the day is done, I get to spend a couple of weeks going over it all again and making pretty memories.
As of 2019 I am now a fully self employed photographer, It was making these decisions to change my life that lead me on this path and wedding photographer is a major factor, It has given me a new lease of life. But it has also let me continue to enjoy other areas of photography such as Automotive, Pets/Equestrian and Property
I have a creative licence.
